若不是英式英语和美式英语的存在，英语学习起来比较容易得心应手，但是任何一门语言都有悠久的历史和丰富的内涵。其实执照可以是 licence，也可以是 license，这取决于 licence 和 license 的区别。

一、在英式英语中，licence 被用作名词，license 被用作动词

 

1、licence 作名词，例如：

 

Do you have a licence?

你有执照吗？

 

 

May I see your driving licence please?

我可以看一下你的驾驶执照吗？

 

2、license 作动词，例如：

 

I need to license this vehicle.

我要给这辆车上牌。

 

二、而在美式英语中，只有一个存在，那就是 license，它既可以被用作名词，也可以被用作动词，例如：

 

1、license 作名词

 

I am unable to give you a license because of your history.

因为你的前科，我不能给你驾照。

 

You must obtain a new automobile license when your old one expires.

当旧的汽车牌照满期，你得领取新的。

 

The government revoked her husband's license to operate migrant labor crews.

政府撤销了她丈夫管理外来打工人群的许可证。

 

2、license 作动词

 

This restaurant is licensed to sell alcohol.

这家餐馆获准出售酒类。

 

Under the agreement, the council can license a U.S. company to produce the drug.

根据协议，委员会可授权一家美国公司生产这种药品。

 

三、两者的区别

 

在美式英语中，只有 license，没有 licence，它既可以作名词，也可以作动词；而在英式英语中，存在 license 和 licence，其中 licence 作名词，license 作动词。
